Rumbled in a crawl
Of broad dawnings
Tumbled to string sinew.
The wash is heavy,
The deep breath
To still weight,
And heel to head
You're sure
That something
Has begun
The toll lolling
Like a dreaming tongue
Will wait
Heavily
For and answer
Which now comes
Apace
On a warp
Of sibilant silk
Spun nightward,
Threaded through
With ingots of grind
And cords of gilt gossamer
That can cling
To the swaying limb,
The singing chin,
As the ash of night
Warms the dancing sole
With its char,
Particle-moved,
Like drum and air
The same that sent
Sparks up to pepper
The dark with the brightness
Of steel strings,
The same that set
All galloping hearts
To rumbled still,
And with it,
A wash of heavy colour
Under which
To dream.
