Needle looked at him in a way that left no room for argument. Plate himself was exhausted, too. Nobody had expected anything like this: people were picking through records well into the evening, and the fight over the last book turned into something else entirely. A full-on auction, right there on the floor. Hands shot up across the room, bids flying over the DJ set, voices cutting through the music. Credit cards, cash, gift deposits — everything was on the table. Maybe a bit too much of an action for a shop still finding its feet. But who was going to stand in the way of that kind of energy?
